“Baptist Christians Present and Engaging in a Multi-faith World” in Leicester on 13 October 2009 (posted 11/8/09)

On Tuesday 13 October, the BUGB Mission Department will host a consultation day for pastors / leaders of churches in multi-faith areas to share stories, ideas and resources enabling churches to become distinctively Christian in a multi-faith community.

Our Speaker for the day will be the Revd Andy Williams, minister of Sion Baptist Church in Burnley.  Andy’s experience of the disturbances in Burnley in 2001, caused him to ask searching questions about his practice of ministry in that context.  He went on to be a founder member of Burnley’s inter-faith project, ‘Building Bridges in Burnley’ and now serves as a Director of the project.   Andy will be telling the story of ‘Building Bridges in Burnley’ and his involvement in inter-faith work with Christians and Muslims.

Cost for the day is £20 including lunch.

Venue: Robert Hall Memorial Church, Leicester

To book please contact the Mission Department on 01235 517713 (email mission@baptist.org.uk). Please note that the closing date for bookings is Wednesday 30 September.

A Common Word Between Us and You (posted 1/2/09)

Last year a letter entitled “A Common Word Between Us and You” was written by 138 Muslim leaders and scholars that appealed for Christians and Muslims to cooperate in engendering peace and religious freedom.

The Baptist World Alliance has now issued a careful and thoughtful response to this significant letter, drawing on the insights of many in the Baptist family, and aware of the need for better understanding between Christians and Muslims. This response can be found by going to:
